Finlay Lines denied last gasp podium in Winter Warmer Trophy

Finlay was back at Trent Valley Kart Club (TVKC) last weekend where he took part in the Winter Warmer Trophy, just missing out on a podium place in the Rotax Mini Max class final.

The Dan Holland Racing driver, competing in a field of 34 drivers, put his circuit knowledge to good use by setting the third-fastest time in Qualifying, ahead of the two heat races.

Starting from third on the grid in heat one, Finlay was on the pace immediately and was in the mix for the heat win.

He claimed third place at the end of the session, also setting the fastest heat lap time in the process.

Finlay once again started from third place in heat two, where he was in the fight for the heat race win.

However, on the final lap, the Maximum Motorsport driver found himself airborne after contact with another driver, leaving him to finish in fifth place. Finlay also set the fastest heat lap time.

With his results combined in the Intermediate Classification, Finlay lined up in fourth place on the grid for the final race of the day.

Finlay stayed with the lead group and took the lead of the race at least twice during the 11-lap encounter.

The Staffordshire driver crossed the finish line to claim fourth place, finishing just under two-hundredths of a second shy of taking a second consecutive podium finish.

Finlay would like to thank everyone at Dan Holland Racing for their support over the weekend, especially his mechanic Jamie Dzyra who will be working with Finlay throughout the season.

Finlay also sends additional thanks to Neil Riddiford from IZone Driver Performance for his continued mentoring and support.
