Lines shines in European Karting Championships

Finlay Lines excelled in the third round of the IAME Euroseries last weekend, putting in a standout performance at Wackersdorf in Germany.

Competing against a field of over fifty drivers contesting the event in the Junior X30 class, the Argenti Academy driver quickly put his previous knowledge of the circuit to good use, qualifying a brilliant fifth quickest in his group and tenth fastest overall.

Contesting all three heats on Saturday morning, Finlay started sixth in heat one and made his way up the order. Pushing the leader hard for the heat win, Lines claimed a fantastic second-place finish in the process.

Moving forward from fifth on the grid in the second heat, Finlay hit the front and took the lead by lap five. Following a last-lap push by the chasing pack, Lines held on to take a valiant fourth-place finish.

Putting his impressive race craft to good use in the final heat, Finlay finished in fourth position, completing all three heats with top-five finishes. With all of the points scores from the heat races combined for all fifty drivers across the day, Finlay held second place in the classification.

Sunday morning saw two Superheats take place to determine the thirty-six drivers who would go through to the final in the afternoon.

Starting the first Superheat from third on the grid, the West Midlands driver was up to second place by the end of lap one and hounding fellow Brit Riley Cranham for the lead.

Working hard to unnerve his rival, Finlay’s efforts paid off as he made the move for the lead on lap six. Building a gap to Cranham, Finlay took the superheat win by just under a second.

Taking up second place on the grid out of the thirty-six drivers who made it through to the final, Lines battled hard during the race to claim a solid top ten finish. In doing so, Finlay’s impressive points haul has catapulted him up the championship standings to seventh place.

Finlay extends his thanks to BMR Karting and S Sport Engines for their support over the weekend, and also thanks his mechanic, Tommy Weyer, who worked with him throughout the Wackersdorf event.

Finlay sends his congratulations to Riley Cranham, the winner of the Junior X30 final.
