Finlay Lines flies the UK flag in the 2025 FIA Karting Academy Trophy
Finlay Lines will proudly represent the UK this week as he makes his debut in the 2025 FIA Karting Academy Trophy in Spain.
Following a successful 2024 season, where Finlay secured the Rotax O Plate and the IAME E Plate, he also finished runner-up in both the Rotax MiniMax 950 and IAME Waterswift classes of the British Karting Championships.
He concluded the year by successfully defending the Whilton Mill Kart Club Championship for a second consecutive year, earning back-to-back title wins.
At the beginning of 2025, Motorsport UK, the governing body for all Motorsport in the United Kingdom, began its search for a representative to participate in the Junior class of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
Finlay was the driver selected by Motorsport UK to represent Team UK, receiving their full backing as he participates in the three events taking place in Spain, Germany, and Italy this year.
Drivers aged between 12 and 14 only may participate in the Junior class, with only one driver per country allowed to enter. Finlay will be racing against 51 other drivers selected from around the world.
Former winners include Ferrari Formula One driver Charles Leclerc and Formula 2 driver Richard Verschoor. Other notable names who have taken part include current IndyCar driver Rinus Veekay and former Team UK entrant Ben Barnicoat, who has gone on to become a successful sports car driver.
Launched in 2010, the FIA Karting Academy Trophy utilises a platform where all drivers compete with identical equipment, ensuring a level playing field for drivers who come from around the globe to taste success at this level.
Finlay will be in action this week, as he works his way through Qualifying, Heats and the SuperHeat to reach the Final on Sunday.
The event itself will be livestreamed on the FIA Karting Championship YouTube channel on Saturday and Sunday.

Valencia, Spain: 15-18 May.
Mülsen, Germany: 17-20 July.
