Finlay Lines: TVKC Classic Cup Winner!

Maximum Motorsport driver Finlay Lines took his first win of the year in the Trent Valley Karting Club Classic Cup, competing at PF International kart circuit over the Bank Holiday weekend.

To make sure that he gave himself the best chance possible to be near the front in every heat, Finlay finished the qualifying session on Saturday in third place for both heats.

Heat one on Sunday would see the Synergy Racing Developments talent lose only one place as he ended the heat in fourth position.

Heat two turned out to be a much more challenging affair as Finlay once again started from third place on the grid, however, contact during the race meant that the Honda Cadet competitor would cross the line in seventh place.

With both heats completed, Finlay lined up in fourth place for the Final and soon set his sights on the front, as he moved forward to take the lead during the race for a short period.

Working with teammate Cole Denholm, Finlay stayed in second place and maintained a fast pace, whilst setting purple sectors at various times throughout the final as the clock ticked down towards the checkered flag.

While Finlay crossed the line in second place on track, bumper to bumper with his teammate ahead of him, Cole was later given a five-second penalty, for an incident that took place on lap one of the race.

This promoted Finlay to the top step of the podium after being officially declared the winner of the event in the Honda Cadet class.

Finlay sends his thanks to the team, for all their hard work over the weekend, especially to Matt Davis, his mechanic and Neil Riddiford, Finlay’s driver coach at IZone Driver Performance!

Finlay is now preparing to start his campaign in the 2022 Wera Tools British Kart Championship which starts this weekend at PF International kart circuit.
