Finlay Lines makes promising debut in IAME British Karting Championship

Finlay made his debut for Argenti Motorsport at Trent Valley Kart Club (TVKC) last weekend. Finishing in fifth place in the IAME British Karting Championship standings, despite suffering from engine issues all day Sunday.

Competing against 24 other drivers in the same class, Finlay showed good speed in Free Practice on Saturday, where he was just under a tenth of a second off the fastest times set.

Finlay went on to qualify in third place, which meant he would start from third place on the grid in both heats.

In heat one, the Maximum Motorsport driver lost three places during the heat, but finished in sixth position, as the highest-placed Argenti Motorsport driver.

Finlay started heat two from third place on the grid once again, losing only one place during the session where he crossed the finish line in fourth position.

Finlay’s combined score from both heats meant that he ended Saturday in fifth place in the Intermediate Classification, which was used to set the grid for the Pre-Final on Sunday.

In the Pre-Final, whilst struggling with engine issues, Finlay lost several places at the start and was down to eighth place by the end of lap one. The Argenti Motorsport driver fought back and made up two places to end the race in sixth place.

The Staffordshire driver started the Final in sixth place on the grid, and ended the first lap in eighth place, putting him into fightback mode once more.

Finlay ran as high as seventh place during the Final, however, contact from one driver on track, who was given an in-race penalty for the contact, saw the Maximum Motorsport driver finish in ninth place.

In the championship standings, Finlay lies in fifth place after this weekend, as he now looks forward to the next round of the championship.

Finlay sends his thanks to his mechanic Ashley Dear and Argenti Motorsport for all their support at PF International.

Neil Riddiford from IZone Driver Performance has provided constant support and mentoring and Finlay sends his thanks to Neil for all his hard work.
