Gritty comeback drive sees Lines claim British Kart Championships podium at Warden Law

Finlay Lines kept his 2024 Wera Tools British Kart Championships – Rotax campaign on course, after a gritty comeback drive in the MiniMax 950 Final at Warden Law last weekend.

The Synergy Kart driver set the third-fastest time in Qualifying, competing against 26 other drivers in the MiniMax 950 class.

Heats one and two took place on Saturday, where Lines took the heat one win, before finishing in seventh place in heat two.

Thanks to the points he scored from the two heat races, the Maximum Motorsport driver was second in the Intermediate Classification.

This overnight classification is used to set the grid in the Pre-Final at British Karting championship events, putting the Maximum Motorsport driver on the outside of the front row for the Pre-final on Sunday morning.

Taking the lead on lap two, Lines stayed out front for the next two laps, however, a mistake on lap five saw the Synergy driver fall to eighth place.

Lines fought back to finish in fourth place, setting his position on the grid for the Final.

Starting from the second row in the final, Lines was hit from behind, which put him in eleventh place from the second corner on the opening lap. Lines then moved up to tenth place by the end of lap one.

Lines set about charging his way through the pack, making various overtakes throughout the 15-minute race, fighting his way back up the order. He had reeled in the top three by the start of the final lap.

Making up two further places during the final lap, Lines claimed a gritty second place at the finish.

The Maximum Motorsport driver consolidates his second place in the 2024 Wera Tools British Kart Championships points standings with two more rounds of the Rotax campaign left to compete in.
