Finlay Lines Victorious in FASTR WMKC round two
Finlay took his first win of the 2023 season after mastering changing conditions in the second round of the FastR WMKC Championship from Whilton Mill Kart Club in Northamptonshire last weekend.
The Dan Holland Racing driver started the event by qualifying in fourth place ahead of the two heat races.
The Maximum Motorsport driver made his way forward in heat one to run as high as second, however with the greasy track conditions, Finlay spun and fell down to seventh place.
Finlay would be classified in fifth in the heat result after penalties were applied.
Heat two saw the track conditions much dryer and Finlay was able to convert his fourth-place starting position into second place by the end of the session.
The combined score from both of his heat results meant that Finlay would start the Final in third place on the grid. The Staffordshire driver took briefly took the lead on lap two, before falling back to second place.
Finlay was decisive in taking the lead for the second time in the race as he passed rival Will Green round the outside at Christmas corner and began to build a lead.
Green retook the lead towards the end of the race, leaving Finlay to save the best til last. The Maximum Motorsport driver retook the lead with two minutes of the race left and stayed ahead to claim his first win of the year.
Finlay sends his thanks to his mechanic Jamie Dzyra and Dan Holland Racing for all their hard work and support over the weekend.
Finlay also sends his thanks to Neil Riddiford from IZone Driver Performance for his constant support and mentoring during these development years
