Finlay takes top-five finish in second round of Wera Tools British Kart Championship

The second round of the Wera Tools British Kart Championships took place at Larkhall in Scotland last weekend, where Finlay Lines finished as the top rookie driver for the second event in a row.

Against a talented field of 34 drivers, Finlay struggled in qualifying on Saturday, after contact from one of his teammates left the Synergy Racing Developments driver starting in 16th place for the first heat.

Despite this, Finlay made his way forward, making up an impressive ten places to cross the line in sixth place.

Heat two on Saturday provided to be a more challenging affair, with Finlay making up four places from his 16th place starting position on the grid to be classified in twelfth place.

With his two results combined, this left the Maximum Motorsport ace in ninth place in the intermediate classification.

Armed with an improved starting position of ninth place on the grid for the Pre-Final on Sunday, Finlay stayed with the lead pack, despite some early race position swapping which soon settled, leaving him to finish in eighth place.

Finlay was able to make further progress in the Final, starting from eighth on the grid and soon challenging for the top five positions during the final race of the day.

Despite crossing the line in fifth place, a post-race penalty for a driver ahead saw Finlay’s efforts rewarded with being classified fourth.

Finlay now lies in fifth place in the drivers’ standings with round three of the championship taking place at Warden Law on July 22 – 24 and is top of the rookie standings.
