Finlay scores first podium of the season on WMKC return

Finlay Lines followed up his top-five finish from his January visit to Whilton Mill, by taking his first podium finish of the year in the second round of the Whilton Mill Kart Club Championship.
Starting in twenty-seventh place on the grid for the first heat of the weekend, the Synergy Racing Developments driver made his way through the field to cross the finish line in thirteenth place at the checkered flag.
On Sunday in heat two, the Maximum Motorsport talent lined up in eighth place on the grid and soon made his way forward, avoiding opening lap clashes to come home in second place on track.
With a five-second penalty applied to Rocco Shenton who finished ahead on track, Finlay was declared the winner of heat two and awarded the fastest lap of the heat.
Heat three saw Finlay start from fifteenth position on the grid where he once more made his way to the front after avoiding another open lap incident.
Crossing the line in third place after a last-lap pass on Zack Champney, Finlay was later promoted to the heat win after Elliot Potter and Max Endacott were both awarded post-race penalties.
Having qualified on pole position for the Final, courtesy of having the highest points score across all three heats he contested, Finlay made a good start and held the lead during the early laps, before teammate Jarrett Clark moved ahead into the lead on lap five.
Despite falling to fourth place whilst being overtaken under yellow flags at Christmas corner, Finlay stayed with the lead trio, passing Albert Friend back for third place almost immediately.

The Synergy Racing Developments driver managed to pass teammate Noah Barham on the penultimate lap for second position, however, Barham re-passed him as Finlay tried to take the lead from Clark at Christmas corner.

Finlay went on to claim his first podium of the year in third place behind teammates Clark and Barham.
