Finlay Lines enjoys positive Ultimate Karting Championship round at Kimbolton
For Finlay Lines Racing, the weekend at the Ultimate Karting Championship round at Kimbolton Kart Circuit was a strong and encouraging one, with Finlay showing impressive pace from the very first session.
Due to school commitments, Finlay missed the Friday practice day but quickly settled into the circuit and looked comfortable in all conditions. The speed was there straight away, and he qualified P6. His pace carried through into the heat races, where he consistently ran at the front of the field. Finishing P2,P3 and P2 in the heats. The strong performances in each heat meant he put himself in a great position heading into the final and showed he had the pace to challenge for a podium result.
The final was where everything came together. Starting P5, Finlay driving confidently and racing inside the leading group throughout. He worked his way into P2 and looked set for an excellent podium finish after a weekend of hard work from both driver and his team KR Sport.
In the closing laps, while pushing to fight for the best possible result, an ambitious move didn’t quite come off. On the last lap, last corner, Finlay lost a couple of places, whilst making a move to take the race lead, demoting him to finish P4.
Although it was frustrating to miss out on a podium after running so strongly in second, it was still a very positive weekend overall. Finlay showed speed in every heat, raced at the front all weekend, and proved he has the pace to consistently challenge the top drivers in the championship. There are plenty of positives to take away, and the performance at Kimbolton gives the team a lot of confidence heading into the next round.
