Finlay Lines delivers during British Kart Championship weekend at Larkhall
Finlay Lines delivered another impressive performance in the latest round of the British Kart Championship at Larkhall, showcasing front-running pace throughout the weekend despite encountering adversity along the way.
The weekend began positively on Saturday, with Lines securing an excellent third place in qualifying, immediately establishing himself as one of the drivers to beat. However, his progress was hampered during the heat races. Contact in Heat One disrupted his momentum before a snapped chain in Heat Two brought his race to an unfortunate end, leaving him with a challenging starting position of 17th for the Final.
With rain affecting proceedings and causing a delay to the start of the Final, conditions played into Lines’ hands as he prepared for a fight through the field. Once racing resumed, he wasted little time making progress, carving his way through the pack with a series of decisive overtakes and demonstrating the pace that had been evident throughout the day.
By the chequered flag, Lines had produced one of the standouts drives of the meeting, crossing the line in fourth place on the road while also setting the fastest lap of the race. A nosecone penalty unfortunately denied him the result his performance deserved, but the speed and racecraft displayed provided plenty of encouragement heading into Sunday.
Determined to build on the positives, Lines returned to the track on Sunday and once again immediately showed his competitiveness by qualifying fourth fastest. Consistent performances in the heat races followed, with fourth and sixth-place finishes ensuring he remained firmly in contention for a strong result in the Final.
In another fiercely contested race, Lines maintained his position among the championship’s leading drivers, bringing home an excellent fourth-place finish to conclude the weekend.
Despite the setbacks encountered during Saturday’s racing, the weekend ultimately highlighted both the pace and determination within the Lines camp. Two days of front-running speed, highlighted by a fastest lap and back-to-back top-four performances, demonstrated that Lines remains a strong contender as the British Kart Championship season continues.
Reflecting on the weekend, there were plenty of positives to take away, with strong qualifying performances, consistent race pace and the ability to fight through adversity all providing confidence heading into the next round of the championship.
