Lines scores podium in Winter Cup by Champions event at Whilton Mill
Finlay Lines scored a podium finish in the Final of the Winter Cup by Champions Kart Club event at Whilton Mill Kart Club in Northamptonshire last weekend.
Offered the chance to try out a Synergy Kart Factory run chassis in the event, Finlay got up to speed quickly, setting the pole position time in Qualifying on Saturday, against 24 other drivers in the event.
Missing out on Heat one due to a brake pipe splitting on the second formation lap, Finlay showed his pace in the remaining two heats.
Winning heat races two and three from pole position in each instance, the Maximum Motorsport driver would start the Final in eighth place thanks to his combined scores from the heat races.
Taking the lead on lap two, Finlay stayed ahead for the majority of the final before the chasing pack closed in to make it a six-way fight for the lead in the closing laps.
Passed for the lead in the final laps of the race after going slightly wide in the final two turns, Finlay crossed the finish line to claim third place and a well-earned podium finish.
Finlay sends his congratulations to team-mate Luca Holmes-Balac, who claimed the win in the Final.
Finlay sends a big thank you to both Rob Hanscombe and Mike Spencer from Synergy Kart for allowing him to try out a Synergy 950 chassis, it was a great experience for the Staffordshire-based driver.
