Highs and lows for Lines in Shenington rounds of 2024 British Kart Championships IAME Waterswift

Finlay Lines took his second victory of the 2024 Wera Tools British Kart Championships – IAME Waterswift, claiming victory in round 5 at Shenington Kart Racing Club – SKRC.

Qualifying on the front row for both of his heat races, against 31 other drivers in the IAME Waterswift class, Lines took the heat one race win, before taking a top-four finish in heat two.

The Synergy Kart driver lined up in pole position for the all-important final.

Despite falling back to seventh place on the opening lap, the Maximum Motorsport driver fought back to reclaim the lead and take the round 5 victory, gaining important ground in the championship fight.

Following his round five win on Saturday, Lines endured contrasting fortunes for round six of the 2024 Wera Tools British Kart Championships – IAME Waterswift, at Shenington Kart Club in Oxfordshire.

Qualifying in sixth place for the heats, against 31 other drivers in the same class, Lines claimed third place in heat one,  before making up five places to win heat two.

With his combined points score from both heats meaning he would start the Final from the front row.

The Synergy driver was immediately on the backfoot as his kart engine cut out, just after  leaving the grid for the formation lap. Issues had become apparent only minutes before Finlay was due to be on the dummy grid.

Desperately trying to get going again, Lines managed to fire up the kart, albeit almost a lap behind the field.

Despite this setback, the reigning British E Plate Champion drove hard in the twelve minutes plus one lap final, making up fourteen places in the process to finish in eighteenth place.

As Finlay & the Synergy team put the round six final behind them, Finlay is looking forward to the KartMasters GP plate this weekend, where he hopes to add another plate for his 2024 collection.
