Lines continues podium form in the third round of the 2024 HKRC Championship
Lines maintained his podium form in the 2024 Hunts Kart Racing Club Championship by taking third place in the third round at Kimbolton last weekend.
Racing in the Minimax Inter class against 24 other drivers in the event which took place on Sunday at the Cambridgeshire venue, conditions throughout the day were difficult due to heavy rain.
Following the first of two random grid draws ahead of the heat races, the Maximum Motorsport driver started heat one from third place on the grid and immediately moved into second place at the start.
Dealing with the atrocious conditions as the rain got worse during the race, the Synergy driver kept his head cool and finished the heat race in second place.
The rain eased for heat two, with Lines starting from twenty-first place following another random grid draw.
Working his way through the order and once more dealing with now greasy track conditions, the Staffordshire-based driver finished heat two in sixth place, having made up fifteen places and also setting the fastest lap in the process.
Sitting in fourth place in the Intermediate Classification thanks to his combined points scores, this is also used to determine the grid for the final. With the rain returning once more, Lines started the final from fourth place on the grid.
Following an aborted first start, the Synergy driver set to work as the race got underway at the second time of asking. Running in third place late in the race, an on-track incident in the final corner saw the Battenburg (Safety Car) flag put out to slow down the field.
This is the same as having a Virtual Safety Car in Formula One, as the marshals rushed to repair the damaged tyre barrier whilst the field circulated at a safe pace.
However, with ninety seconds left on the clock, the checkered flag was shown early, confirming Lines finishing in third place.
Following the completion of three rounds, Lines currently lies in third place in the championship, seven points behind the championship leader.
