Highs and Lows for Finlay Lines in the opening round of the 2026 British Kart Championship

Round 1 of the British Kart Championship brought plenty of highs and lows for Finlay, but the weekend showed incredible pace, determination, and racecraft throughout.

Qualifying didn’t go to plan, after crossing the line P6 Finlay was unfortunately disqualified for being underweight due to circumstances completely out of his control. That setback meant starting both heats from the very back of the grid in P26.

Despite the disappointment, Finlay responded in the best possible way.

In Heat 1, he produced an outstanding recovery drive, carving through the field with confidence and composure to gain 13 positions and finish P13.

Heat 2 saw more of the same determination. Starting P26 once again, Finlay fought his way forward through the pack for another impressive P13 finish, showing strong pace and consistency against some of the best junior drivers in the country.

Those performances secured a P12 starting position for the Final — and Finlay made the most of it.

A brilliant final race saw him battle at the sharp end throughout, making decisive moves and keeping excellent pace to finish an outstanding P4, narrowly missing out on a podium after starting the weekend from the back foot.

A tough start turned into a hugely positive round one, with massive progress, strong overtaking, and a clear demonstration of Finlay’s potential for the rounds ahead.

Bring on Round 2.
