Lines shows front running pace at end-of-season HKRC round
Finlay Lines took a fighting seventh place in the final round of the 2024 HKRC Championship last weekend as he continued his Junior programme.
Braving very poor conditions at the Cambridgeshire venue, the Synergy Factory driver was up against a strong field in the X30 class.
With a random draw setting the grid for heat one, Finlay fought his way forward from 14th place to finish on track in fifth place. However, a nosecone penalty post-race, which happened on the rolling-up lap, meant he would drop to seventh place in the heat one result.
Starting from pole position in heat two, Finlay made a great start and stayed calm during the difficult driving conditions, keeping his head and putting on a masterclass to take the heat win by nearly five seconds.
With his combined scores putting him to the top of the Intermediate Classification, Finlay would start from pole in the final.
The Synergy driver was pushed off the track whilst the race started, causing him to lose several places in the opening lap. Fighting back in the difficult conditions, Finlay stayed with the pack, going on to finish a very creditable seventh place at the end of the race.
Finlay sends his thanks to Mike Spencer Motorsport and the Synergy team, who worked hard through the terrible weather and to Ian Sisson who was my spanner man at the weekend.
Proving once more that he can hold his own in the Junior X30 class, Finlay learned valuable lessons from the event and he will continue learning his craft in every race he competes in, as he looks forward to racing at Whilton Mill this weekend.
