Lines finishes as Runner-Up in the 2024 Rotax MiniMax 950 British Kart Championship

Finlay Lines has claimed the vice champion status in the 2024 Wera Tools British Kart Championship Rotax MiniMax 950 class, after the final round of the season at Whilton Mill last weekend.

Finlay’s season began in unbelievable fashion, taking ownership of the coveted British Open Plate during the first round of the season at Whilton Mill.

A weekend full of blockbuster moments which concluded with Finlay winning by a margin of over 5 seconds and being presented with the O plate he would proudly represent for the remainder of his Rotax season.

The first point-scoring round of the season was hosted at PF International. A weekend which was full of what could have been.

Struggling for outright pace early in the weekend and subsequent unfortunate in-race penalties saw Finlay line up P4 for the Final, a race he would finish P2 on track.

Again, in-race penalties would see Finlay dropped back to P7 after the final.

Larkhall gave Finlay an opportunity to go north across the border and tackle a circuit which visits have been few and far between before the 2024 season.

A solid weekend of points scoring and a gritty drive to salvage what was left after a first-lap incident meant Finlay came out of the weekend 2nd in the Championship. A position he would go on to maintain throughout.

Back up north again, this time at Warden Law, Finlay would provide us with a breathtaking recovery drive in the final, one of his finest.

Being forced back to 13th during the opening stages of the race he had it all to do if he was going to catch the other championship protagonists who were pushing away from the battling pack.

Little by little Finlay broke down the gap and during the final stages of the race made two spectacular moves to earn himself P2, a drive which left us all mesmerised by the sheer never-say-die attitude Finlay showed.

Kimbolton followed, and early doors mechanical issues left Finlay with work to do, but as continuously proven Finlay was up for the battle.

Securing P2 in the final meant he would go into Whilton Mill and the final round maintaining his status at P2 in the championship.

And so he did, an indifferent weekend at Whilton Mill and a solid performance from Finlay in the last final of the year, finishing P3, saw him clinch Vice Champion status in the 2024 Wera Tools British Karting Championship Rotax Mini Max 950 class.

Congratulations to Albert Friend for taking the title this year. A huge achievement and one which is very much deserved.

Also, a huge shoutout to Emerson MacAndrew-Uren for finishing third in the driver’s championship, well done on reaching the top three at the season’s end.

Finishing as British Rotax MiniMax 950 Vice-Champion, Lines has earned a ticket to take part in the Rotax Grand Finals in Sarno, Italy next month, representing Team UK, an opportunity Finlay is looking forward to experiencing.
