New Faces Join Expanding Audi Cup Grid as Rogerson doubles up at Snetterton

The Audi Cup – Rounds 6 & 7
Snetterton – 11th & 12th June 2026

Andrew Rogerson scored a Snetterton double as the new one-make Audi Cup series chalked up the latest rounds in its inaugural season last weekend (11-12 July).

While Rogerson has now matched Ross Makar’s tally of three victories, the competition aboard identical two-litre Audi TTs is only growing stronger as three new faces joined the grid in Norfolk.

With Ross Makar forced to miss the event due to work commitments, Andrew Rogerson and Sam Meagher – this season’s other winner so far – started as clear favourites to add to their success.

But debutant Carl Swift has experience of racing Audi TTs in previous years and he used that to good effect as he joined the fledgling Maximum Motorsport-promoted series for the first time.

Swift was quickest in qualifying by 0.6s, leaving Rogerson to settle for second on the grid in his First Choice Maintenance with AS Metal Recycling & Skip Hire car.

Meagher was third quickest, disappointed not to be closer to the front-row men, with 4G Racing team-mate Patrick Booth fourth.

Sean Smith, another experienced racer making his series debut was next, and would be joined on row three of the grid by fellow debutant John Wyatt. The Essex racer was in for a busy weekend, doubling up alongside his MINI Challenge commitments.

Smith’s daughter Ruby ran well but her Global Motorsport Limited car was measured to be slightly under the minimum weight after the session and she was sent to the back of the grid. She would start alongside Jack Meagher, brother of Sam, who had to qualify out of session in the third 4G car after experiencing electrical gremlins.

Swift converted pole position into the lead of Sunday morning’s race but immediately found himself under pressure from Rogerson.

Two-thirds of the way round the opening tour of the three-mile former airfield circuit, Rogerson made his move. He charged around the outside of Brundle, the first part of the Esses, giving himself the inside line for Nelson and, with it, the race lead.

The vanquished Swift wasn’t giving up without a fight, though. Conscious that he had perhaps been a little cautious, in a bid to protect his tyres in the high temperatures, Swift stayed with Rogerson and attempted to find an opening in his defences.

The pair also had Sam Meagher in tow, the latter having upped his pace thanks to some overnight set-up changes.

As Swift continued to probe, he set the race’s fastest lap, but found that Rogerson had his every move covered. He could not find a way past and had to settle for second, just 0.8s behind as they took the chequered flag.

Meagher lost ground when a bonnet pin worked loose and the front right corner of his bonnet began to lift. Taking extra care, he dropped away from the leaders but still managed to bring the car home in third.

A good start from Sean Smith helped him inside Booth to take fourth at the opening corner, Riches. But Booth eventually found a way back past in the second half of the race to finish fourth, with Smith fifth.

Jack Meagher, driving the car taken to a Thruxton hat-trick by Ross Makar earlier in the season, was sixth, just a couple of seconds back from Smith.

Debutant Wyatt drove a steady race to seventh as he got to grips with the new machinery.

Ruby Smith suffered a spin at the fearsome Coram corner early on and retired to the pits with a clutch problem.

Round 7 – Race Report

Sunday afternoon’s race featured a grid formed by a top-six reversal of the earlier race result, leaving Jack Meagher on pole and Sean Smith alongside.

Sadly, it did not last long before an unfortunate incident when Meagher got slightly sideways exiting Oggies on the first lap and was tipped across the front of Smith’s car into the barriers.

The race was stopped and restarted over a shortened duration with Meagher a non-starter.

A good start from Sam Meagher got him alongside Smith and into the lead as they went through the third corner at Palmer, with Rogerson following through into second. Rogerson then got inside Meagher at Williams to snatch the lead.

Swift had also passed Smith for third and, eager not to let Rogerson escape, he tried to go around the outside of Meagher at Brundle. Unfortunately, the pair came together and Swift’s car was flicked across the front of Meagher’s into the barrier.

In the melee, Smith got back through into second. Booth, who had dropped back at the start after getting baulked by a sticky start for Smith, also took advantage to grab third.

Ahead of them, Rogerson was away and gone and he motored clear to take his third win of the season by 6.5s.

Smith, Booth and Meagher continued to run in close order and Booth eventually found a way through to take second on the exit of Riches at the start of the last lap. Meagher followed through in the same move to take third, leaving Smith fourth.

But the action still wasn’t over. Struggling for grip, Booth ran wide at Coram, compromising his line for the final corner at Murray’s. In a drag race to the line, he pipped Meagher to third by just 0.04s.

After misfortune and Thruxton and in the opening race, Ruby Smith was pleased to record a finish in fifth overall.

Driver Quotes

Andrew Rogerson, winner of Rounds 6 & 7

“I had to get the move [in race one] done early. I don’t like sitting behind someone. I like to control if it I can. I saw where Carl [Swift] was a bit weak. I was like, I’m taking that, I’m not just going to sit there and wait.

“The second race restart, I got a mega getaway. It all concertinaed, and I managed to get through. I would have loved to have had another battle with him [Swift].”

The 2026 Audi Cup will be back in action for its fourth weekend of the 2026 season, when the series goes racing for the first time at Donington Park in Leicestershire on Saturday 8th August and Sunday 9th August.

As part of the support package for the TCR UK Touring Car Championship, the 2.969-mile National circuit will play host to the Audi Cup and the series next triple header.

Racing on the same weekend as its sister series, The Civic Cup, this will also be the first time that the growing series will compete at “Convoy in the Park”, one of the biggest events on the British Truck Racing Championship calendar, in front of a huge crowd.

We’ve enjoyed thrilling races at Thruxton, Pembrey and Snetterton so far, and we’re preparing for a larger grid of these iconic sportscars as they take on the sweeps and undulations of Donington Park next month.

You can purchase tickets for the next event of the 2026 season at Donington Park from their website:
