Lines claims first podium of 2025 at Shenington Winter Kickstarter

Finlay Lines worked hard to claim his first podium finish of the 2025 season at Shenington Kart Club last weekend.

Taking part in the first round of the Winter Kickstarter series, Finlay went second fastest in the practice session on Sunday morning as he prepared to race against 17 other drivers in the X30 Junior class.

With the grids for the two heat races being drawn randomly, the Synergy Factory driver would start from the fourth row of the grid for the first heat of the day. Lines moved up to seventh position in the opening laps before taking a sixth-place finish in heat one.

Starting from sixth position in heat two, Finlay dropped several places after the start before working his way back to sixth place. Midway through the second heat race, Finlay moved up to fifth place where he stayed until the end of the second heat race.

The Synergy driver started the final from sixth on the grid and was ready to make some headway after some last-minute setup changes. Despite getting a great start, Finlay dropped to seventh place on the opening lap after contact from behind.

Undeterred by this, Finlay pushed hard and was soon making progress, moving up through the field. By lap eight, he’d made up four places and was running third. Two laps later, Finlay moved up to second place and claimed his first podium finish of the year.

Finlay will be back in action this weekend as he returns to the Whilton Mill Karting Club in Northamptonshire, where he is the reigning Rotax Inter champion.
