Finlay claims top six in British Rotax O Plate Open

Finlay took part in his first Wera Tools British Kart Championships this year as he competed in the British Rotax O Plate Open at Whilton Mill Kart Club in Northamptonshire.

The Dan Holland Racing driver qualified in seventh place in his group, with his time putting Finlay in eleventh place in the overall Qualifying classification.

Starting from seventh place on the grid for heat one, Finlay made his way forward, claiming fourth place at the checkered flag.

Starting Heat three on Sunday in eighth place, the Maximum Motorsport driver pushed hard and made up two places on his way to finishing in sixth place.

Finlay’s performances from both heats left him in seventh place in the Intermediate Classification.

In the Pre-Final, the Staffordshire driver made his forward from seventh on the grid to finish in fifth place on track, before being promoted to fourth position after post-race penalties were applied.

Finlay started the Final from fourth place on the grid and was leading the charge as the top three drivers broke away.

However, with four minutes of the race to go, Finlay was on the receiving end of some robust tactics which saw him drop down to seventh place.

The Maximum Motorsport driver finished the Final on track in ninth place, however after post-race penalties were applied, he was classified in sixth place in the final standings.

Finlay sends his thanks to his mechanic Jamie Dzyra and Dan Holland Racing for all their hard work and support over the weekend.
