Comeback King wins the Tillotson T4 Nations Cup
Finlay Lines took top honours in 4 stroke machinery during an exhilarating weekend of racing in Valencia.
The weekend was not without its nail-biting moments as a misunderstanding of a brand-new set of regulations meant that Lines was DSQ from the first heat on Saturday despite achieving a P1 finish on the road.
Not to be deterred, Finlay made the most of the following two heats, batting his way to P1 and P2 finishes. This set him up for a P18 overall and P9 start in the superheat.
The superheat was intense and fiercely competitive. Coming through the mid pack, Finlay was able to take a P2 finish, which saw him line up P15 in the final.
Finlay was brilliant at the start and, with help from an incident in front of him, kept his foot in on the inside to appear at the exit of turn 1 in 5th place. From there, the battle was on.
Working alone for long stages where other competitors refused to sit behind, he fought hard. As the 10th lap came to its later stages, Finlay made his move, passing his two other title contenders to reach 1st position.
What followed was nothing short of sensational, while the battle for P2 continued. Finlay built a gap, and at the end of the just over one-minute lap was crowned the Tillotson T4 Nations Cup Champion.
Huge thanks go to Finlay’s wingman, Piers Sexton. It was a rocky road at the start, but we pulled it out of the bag.
Thanks also goes to Finlay’s fellow Team UK member Jeff Johnson, who assisted Piers Sexton when tweaks to Finlay’s engine were made.
Finally, huge congratulations to everybody from Team UK for taking the Tillotson T4 Nations Cup title. It was great to be involved in this event with you all.
