Lines shows hard fought pace in 2024 Motorsport UK Kartmasters British Kart Grand Prix

Finlay Lines showed his epic pace and race craft at this year’s Motorsport UK Kartmasters British Kart Grand Prix, however, he was ultimately denied a podium finish.

Competing in both the Rotax MiniMax 950 class as the reigning British O Plate champion and also in the IAME Waterswift class as the reigning British E Plate champion, the Synergy Factory driver worked hard over the four-day event.

Competing against 35 drivers in the Rotax class and 28 drivers in the IAME class, Lines struggled in IAME Qualifying, setting the sixteenth fastest time, whilst going fastest in Rotax Qualifying.

Points scored in every heat race, two on Friday and two on Saturday, were used for the total score of each driver.

These final positions were used to set the Pre-Final grid on Sunday morning, with the result of the Pre-Final setting the grids in both classes.

Having fought through the four heats in IAME, Lines started the Pre-Final from twenty-third on the grid.

Putting in a masterclass of overtaking during the twelve-minute plus one-lap race, Lines climbed up the order to finish in ninth place, setting his position for the Final.

Track conditions were greasy as the final began, with the race leader given a large lead, due to a first corner incident which delayed the following pack, which also included Lines.

Lines made good progress, running as high as fifth place during the race, however, he slipped back in the final stages to finish in seventh position.

Showing better pace in the Rotax heats, where the Maximum Motorsport driver claimed four top-four finishes, Lines took the lead on the final lap of the Pre-Final to take the victory and claim pole position for the Rotax Final.

As the race got underway, Lines’ teammate made contact with him at the first turn, resulting in Lines dropping back to twelfth place at the end of the opening lap.

The Synergy Factory driver set his sights on the front, pushing hard and setting consecutive fastest laps as he closed in on the top four, who were fighting for the lead.

Running in fifth place on the tenth lap out of sixteen, Lines dug deep with his efforts rewarded by finishing in fourth place in the Final and setting the fastest lap of the race.
