Lines earns hard-fought podium in Ultimate Karting Championship at Warden Law
Finlay Lines claimed a podium finish on his debut in this year’s Ultimate Karting Championship at KNE – Karting North East as he prepares for next week’s British Kart Championships event at the same venue.
Competing in the Rotax Mini Inter Class, up against 37 other drivers, The Synergy Kart driver worked hard on Saturday. Competing in two out of the three heats, Lines won in heat one and finished in third place in heat two.
The points scored from this put Lines in second place in the Intermediate Classification. This meant he would start from pole position in the second of the two Super Heats.
The Maximum Motorsport driver made good use of his pole position, staying out front to take the win in the second Super Heat and put himself on the front row for the Super Final.
Despite an aborted first start to get the final underway, at the second start, Lines fell back to third place in the opening corners. By the end of the first lap, Lines had taken back second place.
As the leader checked out ahead, Lines maintained his second position, putting on an amazing defensive display in the final laps, where he claimed second place on the podium.
The Maximum Motorsport driver will be back in action this weekend at Warden Law for round three of the British Kart Championships – Rotax.
Lines currently sit in second place in the points standings ahead of this weekend’s event.
