Lines begins his 2025 European Adventure with top five finish in Spain
Finlay Lines completed the first part of his European Karting season at Valencia in Spain recently where he took part in the 2025 IAME Winter Cup.
Moving to Premium Karting, as well as becoming an Argenti Academy driver for 2025, Lines faced several unknowns, including his first visit to the circuit and competing against other drivers in a European X30 Junior category for the first time in 2025.
The opening days of the event were all about learning as Finlay took on the tough task of finding the best setup for his kart at a brand-new venue.
Making progress with each on-track session, Finlay’s hard work was rewarded with the sixth-fastest time in Group Qualifying, meaning he was 11th fastest out of a field of 68 drivers in overall qualifying, an impressive feat for his first time at the circuit.
The Premium Karting driver fought hard across his heats, scoring three top-ten finishes despite making some small mistakes and being given a penalty. All of this meant that Finlay was in ninth place in the Intermediate Classification, used to set the grids for the two Super Heat races on Sunday.
Starting from fifth place in Super Heat B, Lines worked hard as he fought his way to a third-place finish. This meant that he would start from seventh place in the Grand Final itself, going up against the top 36 drivers from across the event.
Getting a good start in the final, Finlay was running in sixth place before contact in the early stages saw him drop to an undeserved 15th place. Known for his comeback drives when times are tough, Finlay dug deep and began fighting his way back up the order.
Taking on an extremely talented field of drivers during the 17-lap race, Lines showed no sign of intimidation as he made up an impressive ten positions. Rewarded with a well-deserved fifth-place finish, Lines sends his thanks to Premium Karting and S Sport engines for all their support and to his mechanic Jem Kordal.
Finlay is full of confidence after showing all the signs of what is to come ahead of the first round of the 2025 IAME Euro Series, taking place at Cremona in Italy next month.
