Rogerson and Meagher Share Audi Cup Honours at Pembrey Scorcher

The Audi Cup – Rounds 4 & 5
Pembrey – 20th & 21st June 2026

Two more drivers added their names to the Audi Cup winner’s list as the Maximum Motorsport-promoted series contested only its second-ever race meeting at Pembrey in Wales last weekend (20-21 June).

Andrew Rogerson took the honours on Saturday before Sam Meagher responded with a first victory on Sunday in two races that exemplified the entertaining, close racing provided by the new-for-2026 series for Audi TT machinery.

It was Sam Meagher who earned a maiden pole position in Saturday morning’s qualifying session. Driving the D&M Plant Hire backed Audi TT, Meagher pipped Thruxton hat-trick hero Ross Makar (4G Racing) by just 0.067s.

Andrew Rogerson’s First Choice Maintenance with AS Metal Recycling & Skip Hire car was third quickest, another couple of tenths back.

Patrick Booth (4G Racing) edged Iain Dowler (NRH Motors) for a place on row two of the grid by less than 0.05s, demonstrating how closely matched and well policed the one-make series’ cars are.

James Blake (i-tech Racing) was a similar margin ahead of rallycross convert Harrison Folley as he secured sixth spot on the grid for the opening race.

From the outside of the front row, a good start from Makar looked like it could propel him into the lead. But a missed gear for the Scotsman meant that he went backwards instead, dropping to fourth as Meagher led from Rogerson and a fast-starting Dowler.

Rogerson appeared anxious to catch Meagher cold and made a challenge for the inside line at Brooklands, halfway round the opening lap. But Meagher was able to take a faster line and hold on to his lead.

Behind the leading pair, Makar’s recovery began apace when he dispatched Dowler for third and set to his sights on the leaders.

The race then quietened down for a couple of laps as Rogerson sized up Meagher. When yellow flags (for Booth’s retirement) were withdrawn at Brooklands, he spied an opportunity. A perfectly timed late lunge to the inside took him past Meagher and into the lead.

Chasing his first win, Meagher wasn’t going to give up without a fight. The Oxfordshire man’s strong pace meant that Rogerson was unable to pull away until he gradually eked out a lead in the second half of the race.

Rogerson went on to take his first win of the season by 1.2s. Meagher remained a comfortable second as Makar gradually dropped back, finding he just couldn’t carry the same speed into the corners as the two cars in front.

Sadly, Dowler was hit by an issue that forced him to retire at around one-quarter distance. That released James Blake to secure his best finish yet in fourth overall.

Blake lost out to Folley at the start but soon hit back and was able to take advantage when the youngster had a grassy excursion at Brooklands. Folley held on to fifth, also his best result.

The top-five reversal put Folley on pole position for Sunday’s race, with Blake alongside. Folley made a good start to successfully convert pole into the race lead, while Blake covered off Makar on the inside line.

That invited Meagher and Rogerson to come barrelling down the outside under braking for Hatchets hairpin. The approach paid off as they carried greater speed and emerged in second and third behind Folley. The pair then swooped past the youngster through the Esses to hit the front on the first lap.

As in the previous race, Rogerson appeared keen to make an early move, but Meagher successfully rebuffed his challenges before eking out a slight advantage.

Behind them, Makar got a run on Blake exiting Brooklands to take fourth, then cut inside Folley to snatch third at Honda. A tangle between Folley, Blake and Booth at Hatchets on lap two allowed Dowler to take fourth and left the front four well clear of their pursuers.

While Meagher was looking increasingly comfortable out front, Dowler began exerting pressure on Makar. Just after half-distance, Makar appeared to miss a gear exiting Brooklands and Dowler was able to sweep past into third.

Dowler’s next target was Rogerson, who was managing an issue. When Rogerson ran wide at Dibeni, Dowler needed no second invitation to pounce and grab second which he managed to hold onto despite suffering a similar moment himself a lap later.

But there was no stopping Meagher out front as he took the D&M Plant Hire car to a maiden victory by 4s. Dowler was equally jubilant in second, his best result yet, which he dedicated to his uncle Steve.

Rogerson managed to hold off Makar for third while Booth recovered well to take fifth. Folley was sixth and Blake limped home in seventh.

Driver Quotes

Round 4 winner, Andrew Rogerson

“We made a lot of changes from qualifying and it definitely helped the car through where I needed to be strong. There was no catching Sam round the fast corners – he was just gone. Fair play to Sam, he drove amazingly.

“I teed him up, I see the gap and… you’re a racing driver, you go for a gap, don’t you?”

Round 5 winner, Sam Meagher

“Perfect first lap! I’m over the moon – been doing this for a couple of years now.”

The 2026 Audi Cup returns for its third weekend of the 2026 season in just over a weeks’ time, when the series goes racing for the first time at Snetterton in Norfolk on Saturday 11th July and Sunday 12th July.

As part of the support package for the British Truck Racing Championship, the 2.969-mile circuit will play host to Audi Cup for the first time, as the brand new series will be in action on the same weekend as its racing siblings, The Civic Cup and TCR UK.

Thruxton and Pebrey have shown there is no quarter given or asked for in this series, and we look forward to seeing what surprises Snetterton will bring as our Summer Odyssey continues.
